Amid all the leadership changes, the University of Tennessee men's rugby program added two more Tennessee athletes for their 2022-2023 squad.

David Stazzone (Ravenwood Raptors) and Leo Bonifacio (Webb School of Knoxville) have committed to the Volunteers for the new season. Each athlete came to the university in a different way.

Stazzone played for one of Tennessee's premier high school rugby clubs: the Ravenwood Raptors. He helped the team win the 2022 D1 State Championship, as well as two other 7s State Championships. His polished rugby abilities will help make an immediate impact on the pitch.

Bonifacio on the other hand, had a different path toward playing collegiate rugby.

Bonifacio played football at Webb where he was a middle linebacker. Eventually, he was introduced to rugby and decided to start training in order to get recognized by colleges. The Vols took notice and signed him to play.

Bonifacio and Stazzone will play important roles in the Vols’ quest to defend their national championship. We look forward to seeing their collegiate careers play out.
