Saraia McGhee has signed to play collegiate rugby at Howard University.

"Herd Rugby is proud to celebrate Saraia McGhee as the program's first high school rugby commitment," Howard said in a press release. "We are excited to welcome her as a member of Herd Rugby!"

When Howard asked her why she chose to continue her career with the college, McGhee responded, "I want to experience its prestigious past and contribute to a new generation of greatness. Being able to not only further my education, but play rugby at such an elite school surrounded by other powerful Black people will be a life-altering opportunity, and I truly can not wait for it to begin."

McGhee is coming to a brand-new women's program. The club started in the Fall of 2021 under head coach Katherine Aversano, a graduate of Howard Law.

McGhee will be an important piece to the club, as the team looks to gain a foothold in the women's rugby landscape. Her experience as a state champion with Ravenwood and a spot with the USA South Panthers selects side will be vital to the Herd.

We look forward to seeing McGhee's impact, as she continues her rugby career.
