Michael McWilliams has signed to play collegiate rugby at the University of Arizona.

"I am very proud to announce my commitment to the University of Arizona to continue my athletic and academic career as a D1 rugby player," McWilliams said in an Instagram post. "I couldn't have done this without my parents always pushing and supporting me over the years. I also want to thank my family, teammates, and coaches for everything. Time to work, bear down."

McWilliams was a star for the Ravenwood Raptors in high school. In 2022, he led the team to a state championship win over Germantown with a hat trick. His play in the final match earned him MVP honors.

McWilliams will be headed to a storied program at the University of Arizona. Wildcats Rugby was founded in 1969 and has been a consistent collegiate rugby playoff participant. Most recently, the team reached the Quarterfinals of the Rugby Sevens Collegiate Championships on NBC. Peter Tiberio, local Nashville resident, and Brett Thompson are Arizona rugby alumni who played for the US National Team. Tiberio also played for the Seattle Seawolves in Major League Rugby.

McWilliams will be an important piece for the Wildcats as they look to advance in the postseason in the coming years.
