Five Memphis Inner City Rugby (MICR) players have committed to continue their athletic careers at the University of Memphis.

"Congratulations to MICR Legends, Montrell Raynor, Darius Cooper, Kevon Surles, Khayman Hayes, and Xavier Logan for signing with University of Memphis Rugby today," MICR said in a Facebook post on May 18. "We are so proud of each one of you, and we are excited to continue working with you for years to come! Go Tigers!"

Raynor, Cooper, Surles, Hayes, and Logan are all standout players that rose through the ranks of the MICR system. These five are another testament to the inner city program's success. To date, 48 MICR players have accessed college through rugby.

The five players will help a Tigers' team that is on the rise. In late May 2022, the 7s collegiate squad took 2nd at the USA Rugby Collegiate National Championships. This was the first time in school history that the 7s team had made it to the national championship match. They lost to USC 29-7.

We look forward to seeing how these five outstanding athletes will perform at the college level.
