Major League Rugby Inks Fox Sports As National TV Partner

As Major League Rugby kicks off its fifth season today, the league has announced this season's national broadcast partner.

Select league matches will get national television coverage on FS1 and FS2 starting tonight with NOLA Gold vs. New England Free Jacks on FS2 at 9:00 PM EST.

The MLR Championship Final will be held on the main network FOX Sports the weekend of June 25th. Comparable to CBS which showed the final last season, FOX Sports hopes to surpass the championship TV viewing numbers of 2.08 million households from 2021.

“Having FOX Sports involved as the national television broadcaster for Major League Rugby this season is an amazing opportunity for the league,” said MLR Commissioner George Killebrew. “FOX Sports’ reach and audience will not only bring our fans the rugby coverage they expect but also introduce our sport to entirely new rugby fans.”

“We are excited to showcase another season of Major League Rugby across our cable networks, highlighting the fast-paced action of professional American rugby at the highest level,” said Bill Wanger, Executive Vice President, Head of Programming and Scheduling, FOX Sports.
