Azhinaye Barner has signed to play collegiate rugby at Life University.

"Congrats Azhinaye !!!" Columbia Central High said in a social media post. "We are so proud of all the hard work you have put in to make this dream a reality!"

"Welcome Azhinaye to the Running Eagle family," the university said said in a Facebook post.

Barner will be an important piece to the future of Life University's team. The program has historically been one of the top women's programs in the country with two national CRC 7s championships and two runner-up CRC 7s finishes since 2015, and appearances in the last five consecutive D1 Elite National Championships with a 15s National Collegiate Rugby championship in 2021. The program also has 52 USA Rugby D1 Elite All-Americans and 7 alumni who have played for the USA Eagles in its history.

After some dominant years, the program now has a new head coach in Ryszard Chadwick. The incoming coach looks to continue the program's success while integrating new recruits like Barner.

We look forward to seeing how Barner does in the next step of her rugby career.
